USCIS Announces Lottery Winners

May 25, 2010

DV Visa Lottery. It is that time of year when our government begins notifying about 100,000 DV "lottery winners" that they have been selected for a chance to apply for permanent residence. Approximately 50,000 permanent visas are available and they apportioned among six worldwide geographic regions, with a maximum of seven percent of total available visas apportioned to persons born in any single country. Any applicants who have received a notification letter should immediately access the newly posted U.S. Department of State instructions and notify the processing center that they are interested in pursuing permanent residence, either by consular post processing, or by Adjustment of Status if they are otherwise eligible. Notified applicants should start monitoring the State Department's monthly Visa Bulletin starting this summer, as the State Department's Visa Office publishes figures on per country limits under this year's DV program. Starting in October 2010, only those applicants whose identification numbers are listed as current may proceed with next steps, which need to be completed by the end of the government's fiscal year on September 30, 2011. We are happy to provide immigration legal assistance and strategic planning for your foreign national employee lottery winners.
