USCIS to Launch Organizational Accounts for Registration and Electronic Filing Option for FY H-1B Petitions

USCIS has announced its intention to introduce organizational accounts for the FY 2025 H-1B cap season that will  allow multiple individuals within an employer  and their legal representatives to collaborate on and file H-1B registrations, and ultimately Forms I-129 (H-1B) and I-907 (Premium Processing).

USCIS plans to announce the availability of the organizational accounts and H-1B registration dates at the end of January, and will enable access to the new organizational accounts in February. USCIS will hold national engagements and “Tech Talks” starting in January to help guide the process.

With the launch of the organizational accounts and online filing of H-1B petitions, USCIS aims to fully digitize the H-1B lifecycle, from registrations through decision and consular notification.

Weaver Schlenger is excited about USCIS’ intention to use technology to streamline the FY Lottery process, and will participate in the government national engagements and Tech Talks and will share takeaways with our clients. On the other hand, in our experience, government rollouts of new technologies, including electronic filing systems and notifications, have been rocky and unpredictable.

We believe that the organizational accounts will be necessary for registration, but the use of them to file FY H-1B petitions will be optional. More risk averse clients may still prefer to file physically, while kinks in the electronic process work their way out.

For more on the new organizational accounts, please see USCIS’ FAQs on the same.

We will continue to monitor and react to new developments as they unfold.

Update: As of January 26, 2024:

During the week's stakeholder engagements related to its new organizational accounts, USCIS confirmed that the current fee of $10 per H-1B registrant will remain in effect for the upcoming registration. It is still possible that new H-1B fees could be in place by April, in time for new FY 2025 H-1B petitions. We will continue to update as this becomes known.
